We are 1 km from the village of Yzeures where there are 2 bakeries, a small bar, a good restaurant, a tobacconist/newsagent, a pharmacy and a fishing supply shop. In the village, on the banks of the river Creuse are tennis courts, table tennis, a community swimming pool, river swimming and an outward bound activity course. On the edge of the village is a large supermarket selling everything from milk, booze, meat, veg and fish to nappies, baby food, clothes and all household requirements - also a 24-hr petrol station (VISA card necessary).

From Tours on A10 (1)

Drive south on motorway to St Maure de Touraine (Junction 25). Once off motorway follow signs to Descartes and Le Blanc. Follow ringroad signs direction Le Blanc round Descartes then straight on past La Guerche and through Barrou to a crossroads called La Revaudiere. Straight across, following signs to Yzeures sur Creuse and Le Blanc.

* Drive through the village of Yzeures, eventually past an Intermarche supermarket and petrol pumps on the left. Round a slight bend and there is a straight road in front of you with fields on each side. One kilometre along this road you will see houses on each side of the road and a sign Le Petit Varenne. Before reaching these houses, indicate left and turn up to the left just before the sign. There is a small sign saying La Forge. If you are arriving in the dark, after you leave Intermarche, count the short double white posts which all French side roads have with red reflectors on top. We are the third lot of double posts on the left after Intermarche. Shortly after turning there is a small road to the right – ignore this and go straight on. Up a slight slope to a cluster of houses and turn immediately right into the drive outside La Forge.

Alternatively you can stay on the A10 until Chatellerault North Junction 26. Once off the motorway, follow the signs for La Roche Posay and Le Blanc. Do not go right into La Roche Posay, but follow ringroad signs to Le Blanc and Yzeures sur Creuse. After second roundabout outside La Roche Posay, you will drive up a hill for a short distance and arrive at a choice of driving straight on for Preuilly sur Claise or turning right for Yzeures and Le Blanc. Turn right, then follow procedure as above from *.

From Poitiers north on A10

Follow Blue motorway signs round Poitiers direction Chatellerault and Paris. Once on motorway about 20 minutes brings you to Chatellerault North Junction 26. Follow directions as on above Tours on A10 (2).
